Lighting desks are control surfaces for controlling lighting and effects devices with a set of faders, buttons and wheels. Some digital desks can operate in a fully automated mode.
Analogue desks operate by sending voltages varying from 0 (0%) to 10V (100%) down distinct cores in a cable. They are only found in the smallest of applications, and the Union does not use any of them. Digital desks, on the other hand, operate by manipulating DMX data, and will often include programming features such as Cues, Chases and Submasters.
